چکیده

We introduce a class of eccentric discs with “strong” density cusps whose potentials are of Stäckel form in elliptic coordinates. Our models exhibit some striking features: sufficiently close to the location of the cusp, the potential and surface density distribution diverge as Φ ∝ r and Σ ∝ r, respectively. As we move outward from the centre, the model takes a non-axisymmetric, lopsided structure. In the limit, when r tends to infinity, the isocontours of Φ and Σ become spherically symmetric. It is shown that the configuration space is occupied by three families of regular orbits: eccentric butterfly, aligned loop and horseshoe orbits. These orbits are properly aligned with the surface density distribution and can be used to construct self-consistent equilibrium states.

The nuclear stellar disc in Andromeda: a fossil from the era of black hole growth

The physics of angular momentum transport from galactic scales (∼10–100 pc) to much smaller radii is one of the outstanding problems in our understanding of the formation and evolution of supermassive black holes (BHs). Seemingly unrelated observations have discovered that there is a lopsided stellar disc of unknown origin orbiting the BH in M31, and possibly many other systems. We show that th...

Integrable models of galactic discs with double nuclei

We introduce a new class of 2-D mass models, whose potentials are of Stäckel form in elliptic coordinates. Our model galaxies have two separate strong cusps that form double nuclei. The potential and surface density distributions are locally axisymmetric near the nuclei and become highly non-axisymmetric outside the nucleus. The surface density diverges toward the cuspy nuclei with the law Σ ∝ ...

Cusps without chaos

We present cuspy, non–axisymmetric, scale–free mass models of discs, whose gravitational potentials are of Stäckel form in parabolic coordinates. A black hole may be added at the centre, without in any way affecting the Stäckel form; the dynamics in these potentials is, of course, fully integrable. The surface density, Σdisc ∝ 1/r γ , where 0 < γ < 1 corresponds to steep cusps for which the cen...

Bar-induced mass relocation in galactic discs

The appearance of a bar in a galaxy considerably changes the mass distribution within the galactic disc. We have therefore performed a detailed study of the mass relocation within a stellar Kuzmin disc using two-dimensional numerical simulations with fixed 3D-potentials representing the bulge and the halo. We have started from a fully axisymmetric stellar distribution and followed the galaxy th...

Relativistic Stellar Models with Quadratic Equation of State

In this paper, we have obtained and presented new relativistic stellar configurations considering an anisotropic fluid distribution with a charge distribution and a gravitational potential Z(x) that depends on an adjustable parameter. The quadratic equation of state based on Feroze and Siddiqui viewpoint is used for the matter distribution. The new solutions can be written in terms of elementar...
